About The Event
On Tuesday, November 17, from 1:00–3:00 p.m., the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project will gather at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania (Flight 93 National Memorial (U.S. National Park Service) ) for a preview event. This year marks the sixth year of the Homeless Remembrance Blanket Project, a grassroots effort that brings together thousands of people who knit, crochet, quilt, sew, collect, transport, and distribute handmade blankets for neighbors experiencing homelessness.
For this event, handmade blankets will be displayed at the Flight 93 National Memorial as we honor the service and care of first responders and remember the many ways emergency responders encounter and assist people experiencing homelessness in our communities. The event will also include backpacks filled with necessities for first responders, who regularly respond when people are displaced or in crisis.
This afternoon event is open to everyone. The Lower Susquehanna Synod and Allegheny Synod are participating together, joining community members, first responders, partners, and friends from across the region.
