New York City National Display

On December 21st, the winter solstice and the longest, coldest night of the year, we gather in New York City to claim public space for neighbors who are too often rendered invisible.

Every blanket stitched, crocheted, knitted, or woven carries hours of quiet devotion. When spread across Stuyvesant Park, these vibrant handmade creations form a striking memorial to honor the lives we have lost to homelessness. But this project doesn’t end with remembrance, it moves straight into direct action. Once the display concludes, every blanket is folded with intention and placed directly into the hands of unsheltered individuals and families surviving on the city streets.
