Frequently Asked Questions
How big should the blankets be for #memorialblanket?
Because we lay out the blankets in a grid format – it is easiest if they are all the same length. That length is 80 inches or 203 cm. Widths may vary. We recommend 45 inches (114 cm) wide for individual blankets and 60 inches (152 cm) for family blankets.
What kind of blankets do you accept?
Any handmade blanket. Knitted, woven, quilted, crocheted, etc. Factory made blankets are wonderful gifts and should be donated directly to your local shelter.
If I can’t make a whole blanket, but would like to make some squares, may I quilt, knit or crochet them?
We accept squares handmade anyway you prefer. Please donate squares that have a finished size of 12 inches by 12 inches. If you are making quilt squares – don’t forget that the outer edge will need a seam allowance.
When can I turn in my blankets?
We will start collecting blankets mailed to our location after Thanksgiving each year. The mailing address will be posted on the website, in our newsletter, and on social media after Nov. 1st.
